Despite a recent comment from a league executive to the contrary, MLS Commissioner Don Garber today confirmed that no changes are coming to the post-season in the coming year.
This news comes on the heels of MLS Vice President Jeff Agoos saying that possible changes to the post-season format would be on the docket for discussion at upcoming league meetings.
Ultimately, the final say over playoff format and structure rests with the league’s technical committee.
Even without a post-season revamp on the agenda, the coming MLS board meeting on Thursday will undoubtedly be one to watch. Garber promised an update on expansion team rules, timelines, and pricing following that meeting.
