The Loons brought needed depth to the squad at the tail end of the draft.
Minnesota United selected Thomas De Villardi with the 42nd overall pick at today’s MLS SuperDraft. The Delaware University product has played both defense and midfield over the years but is expected to play defense for the Loons.
Minnesota originally held the 25th overall pick - the second pick of the second round - but traded it away to the Philadelphia Union for $50,000 of General Allocation Money and the 42nd overall pick.
