The Loons finally announced an addition to their 2017 roster today with the announcement that they had traded for D.C. United midfielder, Collin Martin. It is not the announcement that people expected to come today, but the young player appears to be a solid piece for the years to come.
The 22-year-old is a DCU homegrown product and has played “extensively” for the United States at the Youth level. The Loons gave up a fourth-round pick in the 2018 SuperDraft to get him.
Being a youth player for DCU, Martin has a strong familiarity with Amos McGee. The trade appears to make sense moving forward. We are waiting on a report from Black and Red United about Martin, and we will bring that to you when we have it.
