It took a sizeable contract and some local goodwill to keep Christian Ramirez in Minnesota, according to a recent report.
While not publicly disclosed by the club, Five Fifty One is reporting that Ramirez’s salary will be $350,000 annually.
If accurate, this contract keeps Ramirez well under the single player maximum charge (for 2016) of $457,500. That means Ramirez will not occupy one of Minnesota United’s two (with the option for a third) Designated Player slots.
The club announced Ramirez’s signing today in a joint press conference that also included former Minnesota United midfielder Miguel Ibarra.
Now that Ramirez is signed, it would be easy to panic at the thought of #RamirezWatch ending. Rest assured, Loons, #RamirezWatch will continue as long as Superman suits up for Minnesota.
