Thank You

We’d like to thank the academy and our readers for a fantastic first year of existence.

It’s that beautiful time of year where families and friends come together to share a meal, give thanks, and fatten up for winter. But there is a far more important occasion than Thanksgiving happening...

E Pluribus Loonum was launched one year ago today. That’s right, we’re officially one. Since our birthday and Thanksgiving are so close together, we thought it might be a good time to look back on our first year of existence and thank you readers for your tolerance and committment.

In case you don’t remember, or just haven’t heard, we’ll go over who we are. We are a blog (not a website...that’s not hipster enough) dedicated to covering our beloved Minnesota United. We also covered NPSL North, college soccer, and other special soccer events in the great state of Minnesota. We are affiliated with SB Nation (there are blogs just like us dedicated to teams in basically every major sports league around the world), which gives us connections with fans of plenty of other teams, and means that exceptional work from our staff is featured on the mothership.

Speaking of our staff, we are all amateurs. None of us have anything resembling a J-school degree, or any real training on the craft. Some of us have full-blown lives, others are grad-school students, and one of us is still in high school. We do this out of passion for the Loons and the beautiful game.

We’d like to think that we are pretty awesome by ourselves, but it’s our readers who really make this blog work. If you haven’t noticed, our blog is called a “community”. We are of the fans, by the fans, and for the fans, and that means that all the fans are welcome here. It’s always a joy to interact with you guys on Twitter during matches, spark discussions on our threads and in our comment sections, and see your views come alive in the form of fanposts. We sincerely mean it when we thank you for putting up with our snark and reading our content.

This first year served as a huge learning experience for all of us involved. There were times when we did everything right (we claim credit for starting the Jerry bandwagon...sorry!), and times where we made mistakes. We’re appreciative of those who let us know whether we are right or wrong, and we’ll always strive to be as accurate and enjoyable as possible—or learn in the instances where we miss the mark.

We’re not going to be going away any time soon. The offseason is beginning to heat up and the rumor mill will be up and running before we know it. In the short term, we’ll continue putting out content whenever it is relevant and interesting—hopefully there will be an uptick in newsworthy happenings soon.

We’d also like to put it out there that we are always open to new contributors. Whatever your skill may be (outside the box is okay!), we’d love to have you join our team.

Thank you for a great first year. We look forward to another time around with our great readers!
