Editor’s Note: The amount of money was written as 250 rather than the correct about of $225,000.
The Vancouver Whitecaps have acquired former Seattle Sounders Star, Fredy Montero. The Colombian was transferred away from Seattle for more than $500,000 meaning that if he were to return to MLS, he would be subject to Allocation.
MNUFC still held the top spot in Allocation even after the trade with the Chicago Fire. The Loons parlayed that wonderful spot to be in into a nice little trade with the Whitecaps.
Fredy Montero’s MLS return is happening. MIN deals No. 1 allocation spot to VAN for $100K GAM + $125K TAM in 2018 (both) & 1 2017 int’l spot

The deals nets the Loons $225,000 in overall 2018 allocation money and an international spot for this coming season. No word on if they will use that spot right away - one of our writers thinks it may mean that Molino’s buddy, Alvin Jones, will be signed.
For those curious, the Whitecaps host their bitter rivals Seattle twice this season, and Fredy won’t make his triumphant return to Seattle until September 27th.
