Some Preseason Invitees Will Be in Portland

I mean, Starikov kind of deserved it right?

Megan Ryan of the Star Tribune has some news. Four of the preseason invitees will be joining the team in Portland for preseason.

Technically, Ish Jome is not an announced singing so he is considered a preseason invitee. I mean, it is simly a formality at this point. Either way, he counts!

Former Loon, Tiago Calvano, will also be making the trip with the team. Calvano was a bit of a surpising invite (in my opinion), but he is also depth. The wily veteran can provide leadership and an extra option off the bench for the U.S. Open Cup.

The other two are names that came out of nowhere but should come as no surprise. One is midfielder Raul Gonzalez. Gonzalez added some much needed spark in the Loons two preseason “games”. He was quite the find.

The other invitee joining the team is Eugene Starikov. The Stetson University product has bounced around to different teams in the Russian and Ukrainian Leagues. He would be counted as a domestic player. Oh. . .and MNUFC would not have had any goals in their preseason “games”. So, that helps his cause.

The season is getting closer! Hopefully, you are as excited as we are!
