In the wake of two ill-timed injuries, Minnesota United have shored up their depth at goalkeeper ahead of Saturday’s week three match.
55.1’s Jeff Reuter reported that goalkeeper Bill Heavner, a University of Maryland - Baltimore County product, would join the club temporarily to serve as an emergency backup keeper behind United’s second-string keeper Bobby Shuttleworth on Saturday.
Starting keeper John Alvbage and third-string keeper Patrick McLain will both be sidelined for the contest with injuries.
Heavner has started 53 games for the UMBC Retrievers for a total of nearly 5000 minutes. He is 22-13-9 with 17 shutouts and 175 saves.
Check out Bill’s college highlight reel and let us know: Are you comfortable with him as insurance behind Shuttleworth this weekend? If not, does the club have any other choice?
