A revised construction timetable will impact Minnesota United’s previously announced August 13th game against Atlanta United at Atlanta’s shining new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Atlanta United announced today that three games will be impacted by the updated construction timeline. Games against Orlando City, LA Galaxy, and Minnesota United are all being rescheduled to accommodate the new timetable.

The new timing will also mean that the Atlanta Falcons, not Atlanta United, will have the honors of hosting the first public sporting event in the new digs.

Addressing rumors that the ambitious retractable roof is to blame for the revised timing, AMB Group CEO Steve Cannon said the materials and routine surveying and analysis are the real culprits.

“No concerns about the operability of the roof have ever been expressed to us by the design or construction teams. It is a complex, original design that is going to be spectacular and operate as designed. That’s the bottom line.”

Bobby Dodd has been an impressive - if temporary - home for the other United. Sold out crowds of 55,000 people have routinely turned out to cheer on the fledgling expansion team this year.

The new date and time for Minnesota United at Atlanta United is yet to be announced.
