Good catch by The Culture Vulture on Twitter for finding this. Sky Sports is reporting that Hearts Winger Sam Nicholson has travelled stateside to talk with Minnesota United.
The 22-year-old winger is out of contract at Hearts and will not require a transfer fee. We reported that the Loons were possibly interested in the young Scottish player last week, but it appears that interest continues to grow.
Nicholson appeared 23 times for Hearts this year, but had some injury problems. He is a product of their academy and made his first team debut at age 18.
With the US Open Cup coming up and injuries/illnesses starting to mount, depth could become an issue. Nicholson is a move that can help resolve that and provide a spark on the wing. (Provided he avoids some ghastly behavior that he has shown in the past.)
The Loons do not appear to be the only team likely seeking the young winger. Sports outlet, Here is the City, has tabbed Nicholson as someone that should be targeted by English Championship side, Barnsley.
A youthful winger is always in high demand, especially if he can be brought in on a free transfer.
What do you think? Does the move excite you? Worry you? Have your say below!
