Despite earlier reports to the contrary, the Scottish Sun is reporting that Rangers are not one of the clubs looking to secure the services of Sam Nicholson, a dynamic winger who is out of contract and evaluating his next move.
Rangers had been included in a list of five interested parties, but according to the Sun the club are not interested.
The news is interesting as it focuses the scope of Nicholson’s options to four clubs from the initial five. While the latest Sun report indicates Aberdeen have a submitted a big for the player in an effort to keep him out of Adrian Heath’s reach.
The article also characterizes the winger’s behavior as “stalling.” While it is possible he is doing exactly that, it seems more likely he is exercising patience as he has plenty of time left to make a decision before signing with a new club.
Minnesota United is believed to hold the best offer for Nicholson at the moment but until he makes a decision, a move to the Loons is far from certain.
Though Nicholson suffered an injury last winter that kept him out of 16 games, he would still be a fantastic addition to the Loons as they look to add depth and breadth to their squad. If healthy, Nicholson could also conceivably challenge Miguel Ibarra for his starting role from the get go.
