NPSL side Minnesota Twinstars and MASL side, FC Minnesota, are coming together to create a club partnership. The two clubs have been in rumored negotiations for months, but we now have confirmation that this partnership is indeed happening.
FC Minnesota’s sporting director, Matthew Cross, provided an update on the process.
Some of the deal’s exact terms are unknown, but it’s expected for there still to be a degree of separation between the clubs. The TwinStars will still turn out a WPSL team. Cross described the arrangement as an “open player pool.”
A formal announcement from both clubs is expected soon.
FC Minnesota were eliminated from the US Open Cup after a loss in St. Louis on Saturday night.
Minnesota TwinStars’ youth academy is in the process of merging with Maplebrook Soccer Association.
