The 5 Most Depressing Games of Minnesota United’s 2018 Season

There were good times, and there were bad times. This video focuses on the latter.

Earthquakes 3, Loons 2

Every season begins with a fresh dose of optimism, even when the offseason is a disappointing one. Kevin Molino made this game a lot closer than it probably should have been, but it was not a good way to start.

Atlanta 1, Loons 0

This game, played in the cold temperatures that only Atlanta United can bring, was U-G-L-E-E ugly. The Loons attacked — and attacked and attacked and attacked — after going up a man early, but couldn’t break through. The frustration set of captain Francisco Calvo’s first rant about respect in the league.

Dallas 1, Loons 0

This Pride Night match should have been special, especially after midfielder Collin Martin came out as the only openly gay player in the major five sports leagues. He was left on the bench as an unused substitute though as United dropped disappointingly.

Colorado 2, Loons 0

The Rapids came in as one of the league’s worst teams, but ran rampant in a terribly boring match that ended in an unfortunate display of violence. Not good.

LA Galaxy 3, Loons 1

With a capacity crowd to see of TCF Bank Stadium, everything was set up for United to show off a finished product before packing for Allianz Field next year. Then Zlatan showed up...
