Minnesota United will now have two representatives at the MLS All-Star Game, which will be played in Atlanta on Wednesday. The MLS squad will face reigning Italian champions Juventus, who signed superstar Cristiano Ronaldo earlier in the summer.
The Portuguese star will not be playing in the match, but there willl still be fireworks on the pitch as United’s Darwin Quintero joined as a replacement pick on Monday. Tyler Adams of the New York Red Bulls also was called up. The two will replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic of the LA Galaxy and David Villa of New York City FC.
Tata Martino, the head coach of Atlanta United who will also be coaching the All-Star team, selected Quintero. Martino had also chosen Calvo as one of his initial players.
The MLS All-Star game will take place at 6:30p on Wednesday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
