Where are they now: Alvin Jones

His name is still a four-letter-word in some USMNT circles.

Yeah. That Alvin Jones. The ones who’s wunderstrike effectively knocked the USMNT out of the World Cup. The Loons had a shot to sign the right back in 2017 and turned him away.

What did he do?

Jones was on trial with the Loons before the start of their first MLS season. He did not make the roster after his two-week long stint as the Loons decided deploy Jermaine Taylor and Kevin Venegas on the right side of defense. Interestingly enough, Jones cited fellow Trinidadian Kevin Molino as a close personal friend that he was excited to play with. It is unclear for the little footage of preseason games available whether or not they actually got on the field together.

How did he leave?

Jones traveled with the team for the preseason tournament against Portland, Vancouver, and Salt Lake, but never made it onto the official roster for the team.

Where is he now?

Alvin Jones is still with W Connection, where he was playing when he joined the Loons on trial. W Connection were good enough for 2nd place in the TT Pro League in 2017 and are unbeaten through five matches this year.
