Yago Moreira Silva, formally known as just “Yago”, joined Minnesota United as a 20 year old prospect out of Vasco Da Gama in Brazil’s Serie A league.
What did he do?
Yago joined up with Minnesota in the middle of their seasonal campaign in the NASL. He made just 11 appearances for Minnesota while scoring 1 goal. His signing was a big move for Minnesota, as they paid 450k for just his loan, but, he did not pan out. The kis did, however, become a fan favorite with the classic Dark Clouds chant: “yago make me lose my mind, up in here, up in here”.
He DID win a MOTM award during his tenure in Minnesota, where he earned a penalty and had some cheeky footwork. check out his highlights from that match here:
How did he leave?
His loan was terminated at the end of the 2015 season, and he returned to Brazil.
Where is he now?
Yago was loaned out twice following his departure from Minnesota to Brazilian teams Macae and Tupi FC, after those two loans, Vasco Da Gama let his contract run out. Following his departure from Vasco, he joined Korean side Seoul E-land for the 2016/17 campaign. His tenure in Korea was rather short however, as he was let go on a free transfer the following season to Al-Tadamon SC in the top flight of soccer in the country of Kuwait. He lasted 1 year in Kuwait, and has since returned to his native Brazil where he is playing in the Serie B with Alogoano.
