Minnesota United winger Romario Ibarra will join Liga MX’s CF Pachuca on loan, the club announced Tuesday night.

The Ecuadorian attacker departs on a 13-month deal that gives Los Tuzos an option to buy at the end.

Ibarra, 24, joined Minnesota in July 2018 from Universidad Católica in his native Ecuador. In his time as a Loon, he scored five goals in seventeen appearances, starting six times.

Ibarra struggled to find playing time with United, occupying a position as one of the club’s many wingers. He appeared, at times, up front as a striker, but that role didn’t appear to be the right fit.

Ibarra also marks the second departure for the Loons in the last few weeks. Former captain Francisco Calvo was traded to the Chicago Fire on May 3rd.

Pachuca finished seventh in Liga MX’s 2019 Clausura. They were eliminated in the first round of the Liguilla (playoffs) on away goals.
