A goal from Jonathan Dos Santos propelled El Tri to victory in a chippy affair.

July 7, 2019 - Chicago, Illinois, United States - Team Mexico celebrate during the trophy presentation ceremony as they defeated USA 1-0 in the Gold Cup Final at Soldier Field.

CHICAGO — In a widely anticipated clash of North American powerhouses, the United States Men’s National Team fell 1-0 to Mexico in the Concacaf Gold Cup final.

A chippy affair saw many complaints directed toward the match official, and a predominantly pro-Mexico crowd made the too-common homophobic chant prevalent. Jonathan Dos Santos scored the game’s only goal in the second half.
