Latest Vegas odds reflect Minnesota United’s third-year improvement

The Loons have gone from least likely to middle of the pack, according to the Westgate Superbook.

You already knew that Minnesota United is having a pretty decent year in MLS play, and you probably already knew that the Loons are playing better than many people expected them to.

The Loons currently sit 4th in the Western Conference with 30 points (9 wins, 3 draws, 7 losses), also good enough for 6th in the Supporters Shield standings — level on points with but above Atlanta United.

That’s pretty dang far from the bottom-half finish that some were expecting of United, and their sudden uptick in form hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Updated betting odds from Westgate Las Vegas’s Superbook put 10 clubs ahead of the Loons for winning MLS Cup 2019. At 25/1, Minnesota is level with FC Dallas.

That’s a big improvement from Westgate’s preseason odds, which pinned United at 100/1, the worst of any team. (They were joined by three other teams at that level.)

Los Angeles Football Club is now the betting favorite to win the trophy at 5/2.

Expansion side FC Cincinnati, which started the season at 60-1, have fallen to 500/1. Remember, Leicester City had 5,000/1...
