Minnesota United forward Mason Toye has been named MLS Player of the Week for Week 26 of the 2019 season.

Toye scored two goals en route to the Loons shocking 2-0 road victory of Supporters Shield and Western Conference leaders LAFC on Sunday night.

Mason Toye’s first goal on Sunday came on a pass from Jan Gregus down the right side of the box. After receiving the pass Toye cut inside towards the 6 taking a shot from the far side of the 6 that went straight into the opposite side of the goal.

He would snag the second of the night, giving him a brace, on a shot from near 25 yards out that went over the head of LAFC’s keeper Pablo Sisniega who was diving to make the save.

Toye along side Hassani Dotson have been called up to the US National U-23 Team ahead of their match against Japan. Both players joined the U-23 National team in Chula Vista, CA following the Loons win in Los Angeles.

Along with that news Minnesota United has acquired $50,000 in 2020 General Allocation Money and a fourth-round pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft from Chicago Fire for $50,000 in 2019 GAM.
