‘Mingo Monday: BLM Training Top and a few trains highlight the week

Forward Madison’s debut in their “Drip” kit and Hart Park ended in just a draw

Justin Nuoffer, Forward Madison FC

Before the Flamingos played their home away from home opener on Friday night against the Greenville Triumph the team made another splash. Forward Madison unveiled their Black Lives Matter training kit. A few things are special about the kit, first being it was designed by Mike Lroy, a local artist from Madison, WI. The other big thing: All proceeds will be donated to YMCA Madison.

When asked about the BLM movement and jerseys Mike Lroy stated:

“BIPOC people are ready for change, and a lot of us shared our frustrations and hope through street art. By wearing jerseys that show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, athletes are showing their fans that silence is violence and the time for change is now.”

Midfielder J.C. Banks said when asked about the kit:

“Everything that’s going on is something that I not only wanted to be a part of, but I believe in it and I’m affected by it. I’m glad that we could do something to put on display, but hopefully more actions come through this.”

Friday night the ‘Mingos would line up against Greenville Triumph FC to begin their “home” season at Hart Park. And we’ll I’ll let Forward Madison’s highlight video do the talking.

You can watch USL League One’s version of the highlights here.

Forward Madison FC will be back in action this Saturday night against Richmond Kickers at City Stadium in Richmond, VA. You can catch the match live there, or on TVW in the Madison, WI area and on ESPN+. Stay with E Pluribus Loonum all season long for ‘Mingo Mondays each and every week.
