The 2021/22 MLS offseason is an oddly short one, with only 11 weeks between the 2021 MLS Cup Final and the kickoff of the 2022 season everything will have to be expediated. Including releasing the entire schedule for next season. Just like the offseason, next year will also be a much more compact season than normal due to the Winter World Cup in being held in Qatar between mid-November and mid-December.
The season begins on Saturday, February 26th with the season opener in Chester, PA against Philadelphia Union. Minnesota will have their home opener the following week on Saturday, March 3rd at 5 PM against Nashville SC at Allianz Field in St. Paul. MNUFC will have no more than two straight matches at home (four times) and no more than two straight matches on the road (three times) during 2022. The longest break the team will be two weeks without a match when they have the first two weeks of June off from league play.
MNUFC will play a slate of eight Nationally Televised matches during the 2022 season with five of the eight taking place over the course of a 6 week time frame. The April 10th match at Austin FC and the May 1st match at LAFC will be televised on FS1. Matches on April 23rd vs Chicago Fire, May 15th at Seattle Sounders, and July 13th vs Sporting Kansas City will air on ESPN. The Loons Pride Night match on July 30th against the Portland Timbers will air on ABC. Matches on August 27th and September 3rd against Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas will air on Univision.
The 2022 Major League Soccer regular season will conclude on Sunday, October 9th with the Loons Decision Day match taking place at 4 PM in St. Paul against Vancouver Whitecaps. Following Decision Day the MLS Cup Playoffs will begin in October, as of publication of this article there are no dates currently set for the playoffs. As well the 2022 MLS All Star Game will take place at Allianz Field on August 10th at 7 PM where the MLS All Stars will host a to be named opponent.
