The New England Revolution are favorites to win the Supporters Shield this year, because they strung results together. New England have won 4 games in a row twice, and also had a 5 game win streak. Yes, the East seems weaker then the West, but streaks like that win you trophies. Could the Rev’s lose the shield possibly, but this isn’t a Revs site.
Minnesota United’s best run of form cam after an 0-4 start which then saw them won 4 games and drew 2 in the next 6. That run of form was in mid-May to early-June. If Minnesota wants to be serious about winning a championship, the time is now to win games.
I try not to put pressure on other coaches especially around job security. However, the Loons invested heavily in the squad this off-season. One could assume that Heath had a large say in the signings, and that the team is under-performing. Sure there were adverse events in the season, but every team has those. We remember the ones who overcome them. I’m not saying “Fire Heath”, honestly regardless they should keep him for next season in my opinion. What I am saying is the clock is ticking.
What I’m saying isn’t anything new or something fans aren’t thinking, but it is certainly something we are not seeing. Pressure is on from the fanbase, and if I am saying something about that then it has been there for quite some time.
3 points from this weekend are as close to a necessity as it gets.
