Recap: Minnesota draws nil-nil with Nashville SC

Minnesota United FC came and left the Music City tonight without making any of their own as the Loons drew against expansion side Nashville SC. Nashville keeper Joe Willis would be the saviour of the Blue and Gold tonight making sure any slight chance MNUFC has they weren’t able to convert on.

After going with no changes from the draw with Real Salt Lake to the win against FC Cincinnati, Adrian Heath had no choice but to make some changes against Nashville SC. The Loons would shift out of the 4-3-3 and back into a 4-2-3-1, Aaron Schoenfeld would make the start on top, marking the first time Kei Kamara has not been in the Starting XI since joining MNUFC. Along side him Kevin Molino and a returning Ethan Finlay would start while Robin Lod would be on the 18 as a sub and Ján Greguš is out for 6-8 matches on International duty.

The first half of play would not be kind to either Minnesota United or Nashville SC on the scoreboard as the half would end nil-nil. But it absolutely wasn’t devoid of highlights by either side. Dayne St. Clair would make an INCREDIBLE save to keep the match knotted at nil-nil in the 26th minute.

Minnesota’s best chance to score in the half came in the 39th minute on a Kevin Molino breakout into the Nashville box. Unfortunately for Molino, Nashville had some hard charging defenders able to stop him.

Late in the first half we also saw the first card of the night when Randall Leal took out Romain Métanire by * ahem * sweeping the leg.

The second half would end up looking very similar to the first half as yet again no goals were scored at all. But this time there weren’t as many highlights. Ethan Finlay did get the teams best chance to score all night with a flick attempt but Nashville goalkeeper Joe Willis stood up to make the save.

The Loons would only end up using one sub on the night when Kei Kamara would come in to replace Aaron Schoenfeld at striker in the 71st minute.

And while Minnesota did leave Music City with just one point we did get to see Adrian Heath do this.
