After an 0-2-1 stretch for Minnesota United the Loons headed down to the Lone Star State for their third encounter with Austin FC in the 2021 Major League Soccer season. With five players returning from International Duty and just two players out on injury the Loons roster was back to nearly 100%. Robin Lod, who’s been mainly playing striker as of recent, was moved to right wing with Adrien Hunou taking up the spot at striker.

Minnesota scored fairly early on in the match with a 16th minute goal. Reynoso took a hard free kick at goal. Austin keeper Brad Stuver managed a big save, however it was deflected off to his left side. Hassani Dotson picked up the rebound and slipped it over to Franco Fragapane who scored the night’s only goal.

While Minnesota managed to score the only goal of the night the stat line looked completely different. Austin FC dominated shots, shots on goal, total possession and just about every other item on the stat sheet. But at the end of the night as the saying goes “Goals win Games.”
