This past weekend Minnesota United hosted their first match of the 2022 season against Nashville SC, where the Loons were looking to get their first three points of the campaign. Things would not pan out exactly as they would have liked with the match coming to a close at a 1-1 draw and having experienced a Lightning Delay that sent a large portion of the crowd home.

Minnesota’s lineup would see minimal changes from their season opener the week prior. The top four and back four stayed the same while the DM’s would have one change, Wil Trapp taking LDM with Dotson sliding to the right side taking over for Kervin Arriaga. Tyler Miller would once again start in goal for the Loons.

Unfortunately for the Loons it would be the visitors who would score the opening goal when C.J. Sapong would get into ultra close range and beat Tyler Miller to open the matches scoring.

It wouldn’t be until the second part of the second half, after a weather delay had occurred, that Minnesota United would score to even the match. A cross would be sent to the back of the back before being shot forward. Hassani Dotson would get a leg on the ball and direct it towards the goal before charging in with a sliding tackle to finish the play and score for the Loons.

With Minnesota drawing Nashville 1-1 in their second match of the season, Minnesota now has 2 points after two matches and are sitting ninth in the Western Conference. Minnesota United will face the New York Red Bulls on Sunday evening at 5 PM from the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ. That match can be seen on ESPN+, Bally Sports North EXTRA, and heard on SKOR North.
