Recap: Loons finally break winless skid

And they did it in style with their first win in Frisco

MLS: Minnesota United FC at FC Dallas Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota United FC finally broke their winless skid and also won their first match in Frisco last night against FC Dallas. The win broke a streak of four matches without a win, including a draw.

The lineup for last night saw only two changes, first was Trapp and Arriaga swapping sides in the defensive midfield, while Eric Dick to the spot on the bench usually occupied by Tyler Miller after Miller was injured in warmups.

Minnesota scored the opening goal of the match less than 20 minutes in when Robin Lod poached a goal after Maarten Paes failed to hold on to a free kick shot sent in by Reynoso.

The Loons second goal came once again on the cleanup. This time DJ Taylor sent a screamer on the ground from 25 yards out past Paes after another free kick from Reynoso had been punched back out of the box.

Four minutes later Dallas’ Paul Arriola scored from around 25 yards out to cut Minnesota’s lead in half.

Unfortunately for Dallas that would be their only goal of the night and the Loons would walk out of Frisco, TX with three points and a win. Minnesota United hits the pitch again this Wednesday when they face USL League One side Union Omaha at Allianz Field in St. Paul in the 2022 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Round of 16. That match will kick off at 7 PM and air on ESPN+. The winner of Wednesday’s clash will face either Sporting Kansas City or Houston Dynamo on the road in the USOC Quarter-Finals.
