A report from RP Online, a German newspaper, says that Justin vom Steeg, formely of 2. Bundesliga side Fortuna Duesseldorf, is out of contract and interested in a move to Major League Soccer. Vom Steeg, a California native, played with the United States U-20 team before he moved to Germany last summer. With Fortuna Duesseldorf, he served as their third-string keeper, often making appearances for their second team.
According to the article, there are four teams interested in vom Steeg. 1. FC Kaiserslautern, a German club, have shown interest. RP Online says he would like to stay in Germany.
In MLS, Toronto FC, Los Angeles FC, and Minnesota United have shown interest. After a trial with Toronto vom Steeg has been offered the backup position, and LAFC have reportedly shown committed interest as well. Minnesota have perhaps thrown not just their hat, but also their entire outfit, into the ring, offering him the starting goalkeeper role according to the report.
Justin vom Steeg is currently in his home state of California.

According to the Pioneer Press’s Andy Greder, vom Steeg trained with the club in late May, early June.
